7 things to see before choosing your ethnic office wear

It is not an easy task for most of the working ladies to select a formal ethnic wear for them. Its kind of everyday  chaos for them.

How you dress up for work shows how seriously you take your work and that’s how others will perceive you.

But before we move ahead in selecting  formal ethnic wear for us lets us first check on essential point which can make our shopping and our everyday selection easier.

  1. Colors– When it comes to color go for colors which are muted and not too bright or flashy.  If possible go for solid plain colors with little embroidery. One can go for Navy color, Grey in different shades, Off white, Soft pink, Soft red, Lighter shades of brown, and Lighter shades of berry. Some may also choose pastel colors like these-5361

2)  Fabric– Choose fabric which is easy to carry,  has a good feel and yet impresses well like Cotton , Khadi, Crepe etc. And sometimes Georgette as well, if you are comfortable in it.

3) Fit– Fit is the important part of an outfit, if you wear is ill fitted i.e either it is tight or flowy from the sides or the neck portion is too deep, that does not go well with Formal ethnic wear.

4) Prints-Prints which are small to medium  and are  neatly defined in fabric looks “good to wear” in offices, anything much of flowery , very big and bold prints does not look good and grab lot of attention.  Wear something with subtle prints and color.

5) Neckline – Keep your neckline,  if possible collered,as that is how the formal dressing has to be.  But you can also be flexible with round , V or Square necklines but not very deep , keep it simple with elegance.

6) Sleeves– Sleeves in your ethnic wear should be  full or 3/4  never wear a mega or sleevless to your office premises as that does not look formal at all. Wearing short sleeves is still acceptable but not sleevless.

7)  Length- Keep the length of your Kurtis up to knee or 2 inch lower but not too high or too low before it.  Wearing a kurti higher than your knee length does not gives a good impression about your formal wear and if you wear it too low i.e till ankle length it does not look formal at all. So take your correct length while wearing a kurti for your offices, as you do want to be taken seriously at your work places.

These were some tips for your  ethnic office wear.

4 things that you should know about Indian fashion

India is a land of diversity and this diversity makes us rich in culture, languages and  tradition.

Although , in Fashion world I find we take lot of inspiration from western Fashion world, many such western Fashion wear brand in India , are flourishing, this itself is an example to this trend.

However, since few years, things have changed in Indian fashion world and we are reviving what we have.

These things include

Ethnic wear   (Kurtis)-India is a hub of ethnic wear. Indian attires are gaining popularity across the domestic and global fashion industry.

Indian Kurtis gives a western look, it comes  in various shapes and           color, The new Kurtis styles available in the market gives an elegant, classic and comfortable look that suits to ladies of all age groups and one can carry it from work to parties and to Marriages as well.

Ethnic wear  (Sarees)– Sarees have never been out of Fashion , in fact Sarees have taken its worldwide popularity few years back itself and is  considered to be the most versatile attire.

Not only one wears them on few traditional occasions, but it also very much part of a Formal wear, cocktail parties, tea parties etc.

Khadi-Khadi has always been an integral part of Indian cottage industry. Not only Khadi is famous in India but it has taken a global acceptance as well.  It is widely accepted in Indian fashion world. … fashion designers now included it in  their collections by designing clothes with “Khadi” material.

Fashion of 90’s- Some of the Fashion trends of 90’s in India has revived again, as if history is repeating itself.  Be it Floral prints, Berry color lips, Dungrees, Snake prints, Plaids , Big prints…etc

This comeback of 90’s Fashion is not only refreshing but it gives a versatility to the new trendy Indian Fashion.

So, these were 4 things about Indian Fashion which is becoming a huge market in India and when it comes to ethnic wear it has already made it niche in Global market and it is going to stay for long.

Know your real beauty :)

Someone has very well said ” Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder”

Indeed it is true, one cannot define beauty, beauty is always defined by the way how we perceive it.

In real world beauty is  constantly being  defined to us through the eyes of Fashion magazines, cosmetic surgery, movies, television, as something which has to be symmetrically perfect, because that is the main backbone of these industries on which their multi million dollar business thrive.

But my friends that is not the real beauty. I believe, beauty is not just being fair and having symmetry all over……instead there are small things which are just part of our personality which can be defined as beautiful.

When I see our Indian women I feel that we all are endowed with beauty all over, we have dark lustrous black  hair, black eyes, Curvy figure , tan skin.

These part of our body and features make us distinct and make us, “US (Indian)”

We should feel proud of ourselves, we all have something or the other  as a part of our  body and facial feature that we should be proud and feel happy about it.

It can be anything …..let say someone has beautiful smile, somebody has beautiful hands and legs, someone has a beautiful calf muscle , someone has shiny , silky hair….the list can be endless…

Friends we need to find in ourselves what makes us different, what makes us beautiful in our own ways….Accept it and be happy about it…

Flaunt it , Flaunt it to the world, whatever goodness you have, show it to the world.

Make up Color that Suits Indian Skin tone

Yes, friends as you are aware that there are some color that  suit to our skin tones and and some don’t.

Applying those shades of color to our skin not only enhances it but also make it appear more appealing.

Lets start here one by one

It is very important part of a make up as it  evens out your entire skin tone it helps out hiding  any flaws, be it blemishes, scars, acne or just plain dullness.

You’ve to consider 3 things to decide how to choose  Foundation shade:-

  1. Skin Type
  2. Shade
  3. Coverage

Choosing a good foundation is the key to achieving a great look. One should always go  for shades that are just one tone  lighter than your skin color and opt for those with a yellowish tint. Don’t wear a foundation too lighter than your skin tone , otherwise you will get a pale look to your Face.

Fair skin: Warm peach tone/ Yellow Base
Deeper skin tones: Orange to yellow Undertone.

Lipsticks shades:-

One should be careful while choosing a lipstick shades because some shades work for you as per your skin tone, and some don’t.

As I have already discussed earlier on different skin undertones one must buy lipstick shades keeping that in mind.

Fair Skin :-  Being Fair does not means that all shades work for you, in fact you must choose shades which are not dark but shades which are medium like Apricot and Corals these will look flattering on you.

Warm undertones: Go for peach and coral colors as they will look absolutely stunning on your lips.

Cool undertones: You should opt for mauve and mocha shades.

Wheatish  Complexion:-

If you have this complexion , you  can in fact carry off any color.

Warm undertone: You can go  for colors  like  bronze, cinnamon and copper

Cool undertone: Shades of pink will suit you the best. Color Red will compliment you very well. If you want to go for a  darker shade go for cranberry but not the tomato red.

Dusky Complexion:-

Dusky Complexion is also a good complexion which can look good in berry and brown shades.

Warm undertones: Subtle brown and berry shades will look great on you.

Cool undertone: Choose from shades like brick red, brownish red and caramel.

Dark Complexion:-

If you have a dark complexion, then you can opt for shades like brown, red and purple quite freely. But, you should stay clear of orange shades as these does not look flattering on you.

Warm undertone: Shades of copper, walnut, bronze and honey will look good on you.

Cool undertone: Those with cool undertones can opt for ruby red and wine colors.

Lets come to  Eye shadows and Blush colors as well

Eye Shadows:-

Indian women have naturally beautiful eyes. The most recommended shades are browns, taupes, bronzes, mauves and plums.  Add depth to these eyes with  prune, copper, burgundy, and darker shades of brown eye shadow.

If  you want  a bold look, use wine, dark blue or purple colors. Dark grey shadow may be used as a very natural-looking eyeliner for a subtle smoky effect.

Fair skin: Dark grays and browns are great. All cool tones work well too. Metallic silver and gold look amazing.

Medium skin: Soft bronze pencil liner looks really good. Darker greens and plums works as well.
Dark skin: Bright blues and turquoises look amazing! Gold and bronze also work well.

Right amount of blush according to your skin tone can help in enhancing your jawline with your cheeks.

Light skin: rose, coral and mauve.
Medium skin: colors like sand pink, coral shimmer or even a bronze shimmer.
Dark or deep skin: plums, cranberry shade and bronze

Seasonal Color analysis part 2

In my earlier post, I have talked about two skin undertones- warm and cool.

lets go a little deep into season color analysis and how its divided.

Seasonal color analysis divides people into 4 categories according to the four seasons, depending on their Skin, Eyes and Hair color.

These seasons are Winter, Autumn, Summer, Spring and here is the description of all with their color palette that suits them the most.

Spring Coloring Group

If you have a dominant Spring-like quality to your coloring, then you shine in warm and bright colors. Your coloring is in general warm but bright. The majority of red-heads fall within this season because of the dominant warm, red hair color.

Celebs with a Spring coloring: Heather Graham, Kate Hudson, Amy Adams, Taylor Swift, Nicole Kidman, Christina Hendricks

Summer Coloring Group

If you have a light and muted quality to your coloring, then you’re most likely a Summer. You are the most delicate and coolest season of all 4 in the seasonal color analysis.

Celebs with a Spring coloring: Naomi Watts, Heather Locklear, Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jodie Foster

Autumn Coloring Group

If your coloring seems to have a lot of depth to it along with golden undertones then you have an Autumn coloring.

Celebs with a Autumn coloring: Jessica Alba, Kate Beckinsale, Nicole Richie, Drew Barrymore, Julia Roberts, Eva Mendes

Winter Coloring Group

If you have a dominant Winter quality to your coloring, then your skin, hair- and eye color combinations is in general very deep and vivid – which is why you shine in black and other colors that have a strong jewel quality to them.

Celebs with a Winter coloring: Lucy Liu, Megan Fox, Jessica Stroup, Jada Pinkett Smith, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Connelly.

This was just a small piece of information about the Seasonal Color Analysis and their has been different versions of it as well, But friends you don’t need to follow them all, its just that if you are aware of your color palette it makes you more younger and more brighter.

And if your color palette does not have your favourite colors in it, so better go for colors / shades which stands somewhat similar. If your recommended colour palette does not match your style concept, you need to analyze each shade individually and then make a decision: wear, avoid or tweak. Lets say, you love the pink in the light Summer palette, but  you are a warm Autumn, move along the palettes towards your own type until you come across a potential alternative, e.g. the neutral plum shade in the soft Autumn palette. If a color does not look amazing but also not horrible on you,  then I say go for it!

An small insight into Seasonal Color analysis-Know your right color

Hi friends today I  will discuss here about Seasonal Color analysis, and its a tool used by many Image Consultants to understand the process of finding colors of clothing and makeup to match a person’s skin complexion, eye color, and hair color.

Friends, this is just a piece of information that I  will be sharing here and its not a compulsory tool.

Firstly the simple analysis of finding what color suits and what not. One has to understand their skin under tone  and its color analysis.

There are two types of undertones:-Cool undertone and warm undertone.

Now how to determine that-

  • Vein test- Just look at the veins on the inside of your wrist.  Are they blue or green? If they look more blue, you likely have cool undertones. If the veins look greenish, you’re warm.                                             t2goldorsilvercoloranalysis-rc
  •  The Old Jewelry Trick- Second test would be to  find out weather you look better in silver or gold jewelry.Typically, girls with cool undertones look better in silver and platinum metals, and warm-toned women look better in gold.
  • The Neutral Test-Think about what neutral shades flatter you best. Does your skin, eyes, and face look better in bright white and black hues, or ivory, off-whites, and brown/tan shades? The former means you’re probably cool-toned, and the latter, warm.

Other than this there is another skin undertone which is a rare case, known as neutral undertone that means Skin with neither yellow nor blue/pink undertone.

  1. Cool undertone – fair with pink / fair with blue hue/ very dark with blue hue
  2. Warm undertone –fair with yellow-golden / dark with yellow-golden
  3. Neutral undertone– both cool and warm – both green and blue veins.

Most Indians are warm undertone and neutral in some cases. South Asians, Japanese, Chinese and Koreans have clear yellow hues (warm undertone). Africans are both cool and warm undertone. Americans, Germans, Norwegians and Russians are mostly cool undertone. Italians, Spanish, Greeks mostly warm undertones.

Here’s an example of Skin undertones –Warm Skin Undertones

So here is, one part of the analysis later in different post  I will discuss the “Color Analysis” Part 2

Recognizing the Face shape and accessorizing it accordingly

article-201538913295148591000.jpg-final                   Face-Creative

Let us first focus on the type of basic face shapes :-

Oval-  Oval-shaped faces feature foreheads that are as wide as the cheekbones. The face narrows from the cheeks to the chin, creating the oval shape.

Round–Also called circular faces, round faces are widest at the cheekbones. The cheekbones do not taper down to the chin as with other face shapes.

Heart Shaped–Heart-shaped faces feature a forehead that is wider than the cheeks. The cheeks further taper down to the chin.

Square–The forehead, cheeks, and jaws are all about the same width on a square-shaped face. Women with square-shaped faces tend to have very strong jaw lines.

Long/ Oblong–Sometimes called a “rectangular” face, the narrow face has the same general shape as a square face but is elongated.

Diamond Shaped–On the diamond-shaped face, the forehead and chin are narrower than the cheekbones. Women with diamond-shaped faces tend to have very strong cheekbones.

Now that we are aware of the face shapes let us get to know a little on the kind of earrings that suits to our face shape.

The Best Earrings for Oval Faces

Women with oval-shaped faces look good in almost every style of earrings. However, they can create a particularly striking look by wearing oval-shaped dangling earrings. These earrings will draw attention to the face’s elegant shape without adding any width or length. Women with oval faces also look stunning when wearing teardrop earrings. Much like oval dangling earrings, these pieces accentuate the face’s natural shape and create a sense of symmetry or balance.

The Best Earrings for Round Faces

Round face

Women with round faces can aim to elongate their faces and minimize a puffy appearance by choosing teardrop and dangle earrings. Look for those pieces that have long, angular designs as opposed to rounded designs. Most women with round faces should avoid dangling circular discs as these can make the face look wider. It is almost always best for women with round faces to choose earrings of a thin to medium width.

The Best Earrings for Heart-Shaped Faces

When choosing earrings for heart-shaped faces, look for pieces with elongated lines and curves. Pieces with elongated curves will help to balance out the face and will draw attention to the eyes, cheekbones, and jaw line. Women with heart-shaped faces look particularly good in dangle, teardrop, and chandelier earrings. Choose chandelier earrings in diamond shapes to add an interesting contrast to the face.

The Best Earrings for Square Faces

Women with square faces should choose earrings with rounded designs that soften the cheekbones and jaw line. The best choices are elongated, dangling pieces and hoop earrings. Those women who would like to add extra drama to their look can choose oversized hoops that brush the jaw line or extend below the jaw line. Such hoops will both soften the face and make it appear smaller. Women with square faces should avoid wearing very wide earrings.

The Best Earrings for Long Faces

Oblong and rectangular are nearly identical!  But the face is longer, and more narrow, and the jaw line is more rounded. Pearl earrings are ideal for narrow faces as they add softness and minimize length. Clustered pearl earrings that dangle far below the earlobe are a particularly good choice.  Instead of a linear or long drop earring, choose showy studs, or go for button or round style earrings to draw the eye up and add sparkle to your eyes.

The Best Earrings for Diamond-Shaped Faces

Diamond shape

Women with diamond-shaped faces should look for earrings with long, elegant curves. Both dangle and hoop styles accentuate this type of face. Choose earrings with soft curves to minimize any sharpness around the cheekbones or jaw line. Those individuals with diamond-shaped faces should avoid wearing dangle earrings that also feature a diamond shape. These pieces will make the lines of the face appear exaggerated and are not generally flattering.

Lets accessorize

Yes Friends, It is Indian Fashion style and when we talk of style , why not learn the art of accessorizing it as well, because I feel Indian look is not complete unless you accessorize it with some jewellery. Jewellery is considered as a symbol of esteem for Indian women. The attraction for jewellery has been great in India, that it has become a main part of tradition and culture.

But the simple rule with jewellery is that , don’t exaggerate it, just keep it simple.

Let say , if you wear kurtis , tunics or dresses which are simple yet elegant, try to co-ordinate  it with some  jewellery that  makes a statement and  not dominate your  entire look or empower your clothing.

Remember accessories such as jewellery is always to enhance your beauty or the simplicity of the dress you are wearing don’t let it overpower your looks.

Lets say, if you wearing a very heavy statement neck piece do not wear a heavy piece of earring with it, that’s kind of overdoing it, or vice versa i.e if the earrings are heavy, don’t worry for the neck piece, you can look good without it. Yeah ,at times you need to co-ordinate both, but still  try to make it look elegant than over the top.
